My Favourite Hats from Derby Day @ Melbourne Cup Carnival

Melbourne Cup Carnival we are really spoiled for choice and perusing the crowd with precision trying to focus in on a favourite hat is difficult. Working with tones of Black and White it is hard to find something that is going to compliment an outfit well as well as having depth and interest.
This year, when talking to a few people and 'The Hat' Magazine, there was allot of 'Hobby Milliners' which is fantastic, but attention to detail, aesthetic and balance were lacking in the 2013 line up of Derby Day.
The Hobby Milliner is fantastic for ladies wanting to purchase many a hat for the week of festivities and most of the finalists I would personally not picked on the day alone for 'Millinery Alone' although that is just my opinion and we are all welcomed to 'opinion'.
I really enjoy looking back at the day of photos that have been captured as during the day, I am interviewing and producing so I cannot get into the nitty gritty of hats on the day.
Being the International Millinery Ambassador for Riverina Millinery Convention 2014, I could not take my position more seriously. These are just not hats, these accessories are as far as I am concerned that are making history. They are going to tell a story about how we lived as a society during out time. Hats have been pivotal more that anything else throughout History.
These hats are the ones I enjoyed looking at most on the day, and I must admit, I adored my own with hints of Swarovski Red. For the Full Line Up, Click Here and seewhat you think???

Love the incorporation of hardware and the bit around the neck,  I am wondering how long it will take others to catch onto this.  Really loved this simplistic look, but forward thinking without too much costume .

RIP Mr Frederick Fox

I only had the pleasure of being introduced to Mr Fox on a couple of occasions and was blessed to have exchanged our love of hats.  A gentleman and Master Milliner.
So many loved and admired him so much, I leave it to others who knew him better to leave some words.  Anna. x

Frederick Fox Master Milliner
How can I not mark the passing of the great milliner, Freddie Fox?
Australian born and trained, Mr Fox forged an impressive career in London and is famous for making hats for the Queen.
Whilst Australians celebrated the Bicentenary in early 1988, I was knocking sheepishly on the door of Freddie Fox's eagles nest of an atelier, high above London's Bond Street.
Armed with a letter of introduction from my previous boss, Mr Individual, I was shepherded into the plush showroom.
Elegantly silvery and dapper, Mr Fox flicked nonchalantly through my modest folio saying that he could pay me no more than 50 pounds per week and to ring back in exactly seven days to see whether a position was available.
I recall withdrawing from his presence taking cautiously tiny, backward steps.
One week later, as requested, I telephoned but to advise that I had accepted a position elsewhere.
'Oooooh!' groaned the cockney voice at the other end of the line, 'Mr Fox won't be pleased! He's expecting you to start this week!'
When Mr Fox and I were introduced 15 years later on the lawn at Flemington, that was the occasion of our first real meeting.

Imaginarium Apparel

Well not all pieces of Millinery or adornments have to be made out of the same Mediums or stay in the same genre.  In fact I am so in love with one of these 'Goth' pieces I may just 'Glamp' (Glampire) myself up a little more for Derby Day next year, although I do have a top secret on my list.
Trolling through the internet today and found these fabulous pieces that scream, "Look at Me", so I did and I loved it.  Very Costume, but so much fun.  x
