Hats from Designer Awards on Melbourne Cup Day

Here are some of my favourite hats that were worn on Melbourne Cup Day, 'Designer Awards'.  It was hard to get totally fabulous shots, but they will be coming on the main site when they arrive through.  My professional photographer had centre front, but just had to share a few of my favourites which included, Studio Aniss, Liza Steadman, Jo-Anne Rolf, Richard Nylon and Rebecca Share just to name a few.  I delight in having the honour to being able to photograph and film these ladies during carnival and always just hope to bring you the colour and life that I enjoy.

Richard Nylon

A name that is synonymous with Millinery and also Melbourne is the fabulous Mr Richard Nylon who is not only a Millinery Master but also a wonderful person with a warm heart.  Richard is a self taught Milliner not having been taught formerly which shows how amazing his work is and that he has learnt through using the fabrics how they manipulate and block.
Although Richard may not have had formal training, you can see his brilliance in design and a true master of his craft with wit in every piece.  I love his work and love to see his personality brought to life on peoples head.
Not only an Icon of the Millinery world yet a Melbourne Icon who is treasured.  There are just not enough of these characters of Melbourne or any city who give so much of their personality to their city and trade.  Totally in love with this man and his amazing craft.  Thank you Richard for just being your fabulous self.  x

Tolentino Haute Hats of Spain

Of course when you see these images you will be in heaven.  These hats are so beautifully crafted and attention to detail is sublime.  I have never been to Spain, but heading to Europe later in 2015 I am thinking I may have to have a day where I stop off and meet these amazing Milliners.
Ever since throwing myself into the world of Millinery, the name 'Tolentino' has meant pure exquisite Master Millinery.  Every piece is so delicately made and just so individual.
There are so many fantastic talented Milliners in the world, but Tolentino would have to be there with favourites of mine.  I cannot pick one piece over another that I like more.  Just enjoy the beauty of their work.  I would also like to thank Tolentino, for always keeping Racing Fashion FB page always up to date with what they are working on.  We love it.  x

Jane Stoddart

Jane Stoddart would not only be one of my favourite Milliners but also one of my favourite people.  Her knowledge of Millinery and textiles in second to none and currently doing her Masters in Millinery.  This is an amazing challenge and I am really excited to hear about the course and the work involved.  Jane was a tutor at the International Millinery Forum 2014 and her class was very well received with only compliments of her teaching.
Jane's signature style is beautiful lace but having been a trade Milliner for over 30 years, her craft and knowledge of Millinery as awe inspiring.  This is why simply doing a few lessons and courses here and there to gain a better idea of how to critique and judge hats, I have no business in having my name in the same sentence.
I am so excited to show you Jane's work and present her here.  Jane runs classes in Sydney as well as travelling around the world to share her techniques.  I had the pleasure of two classes where Jane taught 'Lace' as well as Leather.  Her Teaching is brilliant where rank beginners can attend the class like me and have something interesting at the end of class or tutors in the industry who have been teaching for years.
