Hats from the Lars Nilsson Collection .
Like Wilhelmina von Hallwyl, designer Lars Nilsson is a devoted collector. He has worked for Christian Lacroix, and has been Creative Director at the fashion houses Nina Ricci and Bill Blass. His impressive collection of hats comprises no less than 70 items, with many highlights from couture houses like Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Yves Saint Laurent and milliners like Philip Treacy.
Glamorous, extravagant, sculptural, fanciful, rare – but also quite a few remarkably plain examples from this unique collection is now exhibited at The Hallwyl Museum in Stockholm until June 8th 2014. Selected hats from this collection are being portrayed by photographer Carl Bengtsson who took the international fashion-scene by storm in the 1980’s with his photo style.
There is nothing more really that I can say, although, Lars Nilsson, I love this collection and only wish I could come and see it. Although we can get the message out there for people to love the work of Milliners and Hatmakers alike to bring the love of this essential accessory in my eyes to everyday living in 21st Century. Everyone who takes a peek of this page will see your love and passion for hats and design. We are so happy you are sharing with the world.

Chanel's Native American Headdress On Runway Raises Eyebrows by R Adams

Chanel hit Dallas yesterday, staging a Texas-centric fashion show for its pre-fall collection -- which included Native American headdresses to accompany the "cowboys and Indians" theme. Cue the controversy.
While Karl Lagerfeld has yet to face a full-on backlash, Twitter has already begun to buzz with commentary about Chanel's controversial decision to send the headdress down the runway. "Can't wait for the think pieces on that Chanel Native American headdress," one user noted.
The preemptive tweet is certainly not off base. Karlie Kloss' Native American-style headdress in the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show caused the lingerie brand to issue an apology and pull the look from the show's broadcast. H&M was also forced topull a feathered headdress after offending shoppers earlier this year. Then, of course, there was that ill-advised Native American-themed "Dream Catchin" party Paul Frank put on before controversy broke.
Now, as the skeptical reactions to Chanel's headdresses on Twitter suggest, the industry is conditioned to anticipate this kind of fashion misstep. But the backlash thus far against Chanel seems to pale in comparison to previous instances -- perhaps there are those fashion fans who believe that, in this case, showcasing a Native American-inspired headdress is acceptable. What's your take on the catwalk homage?
